QANTAS 787-9 Perth-London schedules announced

The much anticipated QANTAS Boeing 787-9 non-stop flights from Perth to London Heathrow will commence on 24 March 2018. The carrier has confirmed the flight would originate in Melbourne Tullamarine leaving directly from the International Terminal (MEL T2). For the Perth – London leg the flight will depart from QANTAS own terminal (T3/T4) which have a dedicated international section for an easy transfer from other domestic services. Transit passengers that board this flight from Melbourne will remain “airside” having already completed Australian Customs/Immigration clearance at MEL T2.

At the same time the airline’s present daily A380 service from Melbourne to London Heathrow via Dubai will no longer operate once the new 787 services commence on 24 March 2018.

Flight numbers remain as QF9 MEL-PER-LHR and QF10 LHR-PER-MEL. This airline reservation system image gives details of the flight:

Melbourne – Los Angeles 787 flights re-timed

The QF95 Melbourne – Los Angeles LAX service the carrier’s first long haul 787 route, commencing on 15 December 2017, will be re-timed to an evening departure. The aircraft 787 aircraft that is used for the LHR-PER-MEL service will then continue on to Los Angeles as QF95 thus providing 787 service PER-MEL-LAX for WA passengers. It will provide a better connection experience for passengers as will have cleared outbound Australian Customs/Immigration in PER.

Delivery dates and registrations for the QANTAS 787-9s

The registrations and tentative delivery dates for the first four QANTAS’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners are:

VH-ZNA due for delivery 12 October 2017
VH-ZNB due for delivery 01 December 2017
VH-ZNC due for delivery 31 December 2017
VH-ZND due for delivery 22 February 2018

The three-class configured aircraft has a total of 236 seats made up 42 Business, 28 Premium Economy and 166 Economy seats. Route proving and crew familiarization domestic flights will be undertaken prior to the first long haul service being Melbourne to Los Angeles on 15 December 2017.
